West Fife Fencing Club meets at Dunfermline High School. Normally we meet in the dining halls but every second Tuesday we meet in the Assembly Hall.
The club runs four nights a week and every night from 6 to 7pm we run a class for beginners and improvers. The class is normally run by our lead coach Ken Rose but occasionally the class may be taken by one of our other coaches.
Once the class session is finished the clubs format changes to free fencing using electric boxes and individual lessons.
Individual lessons with Ken can be booked at the club.
Ken Rose has been a professional fencing coach for nearly 7 years. In that time he has worked extensively in primary schools in the Dunfermline area through Fife Council, and has run many training camps for Edinburgh Council (Play for It and Go for It schemes). Ken has been a coach for Scottish teams at various Junior Home International events, at the UK Schools Games 2007 and at the 2006 Junior Commonwealth Championships in India. Ken has also been an official coach with the GB Women's Foil Squad at various international events during the 2007/2008 season. Ken was also part of the coaching squad at the 2008 World Championships in Acireale, Sicily.
In 2007 Ken recieved a Bronze Award of Merit from British Fencing for his services to the sport.
The club has four other coaches all of whom have come through the Scottish Fencing coaching system, Mike O'Donnell, Lorraine Rose, Kirsty Thomson and Val Thomson.
Mike and Lorraine both offer individual lessons and these can be booked at the club.
Below you will find some information about the WFFC committee and some pictures from organised events that the club has run.
