From School Dining Hall to European Championships

15 year old Kate Daykin receives her 1st GB cap and the 16th cap for West Fife Fencing Club for a major Championship event.
Daykin will be heading off to Porec in Croatia on the 28th February to take part in the individual and team Women’s Sabre events.
This has been a great season for Daykin she was part of the Scotland UK Schools Games U18 team, is heading off to Jersey in February to compete for Scotland in the Junior (U20) Commonwealth Fencing Championships and after taking part in several domestic and International events has secured her place at the European Championships and currently lies 3rd in the British U17 rankings.
With one International event to go Daykin also has her sights firmly set on selection for the World Championships to be held in Moscow in March.
Clubmates and coaches are delighted that the hard work from Kate and others are paying such high dividends (also selected for the Junior Commonwealths are Sarah Jane Hampson 15 also of Inverkeithing High and club alumni Ruth Clarke - Dollar Academy and Amy Duffus - Dundee University).From School Dining Hall to European Championships
